Sexual Harassment Paper Harassment in the workplace of any type violates the Title VII of the Civil Rights Acts of 1964, the ADEA of 1967 and the ADA OF 1990 because it is form of discrimination (U.S Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, n.d.). These laws protect individuals against discrimination in the workplace and allows them to have a voice and speak up without fear. Harassment constitutes as unwanted conduct, which can sometimes be sexual, based on color, sex, race/ religion, disability, national origin and sexual orientation. According to the U.S Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (n.d), ââ¬Å"anti-discrimination laws prohibit against individuals in retaliation for filing a discrimination charge, testifying, or participating inâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Finally, sexual orientation discrimination is denying an individual an opportunity or treating them differently because of their sexual orientation. This includes lesbians, homosexuals, bisexuals or heterosexual individuals (Moran, 2013). Provide the legal definition of quid pro quo (also known as vicarious liability) sexual harassment. Provide one example of a behavior that could be found to be quid pro quo sexual harassment. Quid pro quo, also known as vicarious liability means this for that. It often happens when job benefits such as promotion, salary increases, employment, work projects, expectations for performance and other conditions of employment are determined by provision of sexual favors to an employer or supervisor. Quid pro quo also happens if the sexual advance or request for sexual favors by an employer is rejected by the employee (Advocates For Human Rights, 2007) Letââ¬â¢s talk about Jane Doeââ¬â¢s situation as an example of quid pro quo. Jane Doe is a smart, beautiful talented young lady who has been working as a lawyer at Smith Law Firm for the past seven years. Jane Doe has been working really hard the last few years so that she can earn a spot as a partner at Smith Law Firm.
